Highly skilled Audio and Video Producer with experience in story development, editing, show promotion, and marketing.
As a child, being in the car with my family meant story time. And since we lived in the countryside, miles away from nearly everything, story time happened a lot. With my Mom, it was always "books on tape": cassettes with pre-recorded stories which I begged for, constantly, whose plots always involved magical adventures in places much more interesting than our quiet Midwestern town. With my sister, who was much older than me, it was always NPR radio, which both fascinated and terrified me. Just like the books on tape, the stories were usually about far off places. But unlike the magical fantasies I was used to hearing with Mom, stories heard in my sister's car often had more confusing outcomes-- underlying messages loaded with hard truths that overwhelmed my young ears. Over the years, I developed a fondness for long drives and strange voices over the sound system. So much so that when I grew up and moved away to a city where daily car trips were no longer necessary, I felt an ever present ache in my heart (and ears) for story time.
I was the first graduate from NYU's Journalism school to work on a thesis in audio form, and was one of fifteen fellows chosen for Spotify's first ever Undergraduate Podcast Development Program.
Sitting in front of my steaming computer with my headphones on, editing tapes for hours, I thrived. It felt better than empty words on a page, the words seemed alive.
Starting my post-grad career immediately at Spotify meant being thrown into the deep end of the industry, and it taught me to be scrappy, to work creatively, and to keep up with the fast pace of studio environments.
During my year and a half with the company, I had the opportunity to work on just about every aspect of show development, providing me a comprehensive understanding of what it means to write, edit, produce, and promote a successful podcast.
Currently I’m working freelance on an archival film editing project and a podcast launch.
When I’m not editing, I create small-batch ceramics and go on long walks with my dog, Luna (see last photo below.)
